PROJECT NOTES
"Pagliacci" is a realist opera created by Italian composer Leoncavallo. It tells the tragic story of a traveling troupe in which comedy on the stage is intertwined with betrayal, jealousy and murder in reality. The most famous aria of the work is "Vesti la giubba" (Putting On the Robe), which shows the cruel fate of a clown who is forced to perform on stage despite extreme pain.
